How to avoid wrinkles while sitting with a pleated or flared skirt ?

Any ideas how to avoid wrinkles in the skirt ? I got the recommendation to slightly lift my skirt while sitting down / pull the skirt behind me. Do you usually sit on your skirt or do you sometimes pull it out ?

You absolutely must sit on the skirt. It’s proper etiquette and more sanitary. You can get all kinds of things (even crabs) from upholstery. That’s disgusting.

The proper way is to gently smooth your skirt down and flat against your bum as you sit. This will cause the fewest wrinkles because you are smoothing the fabric and it will keep you covered.

I do just the opposite. I slightly lift my skirt while sitting down and pull the skirt in front of me. This keeps the back taught and the front loose so I can move my legs around. I am assuming it is not a mini skirt because that may not give you a desired look if you lift it up. Email me if you would like to discuss it further.
